Andy offers private, one to one drum tuition to players of all abilities from beginners to advanced. All ages are taken from 4 years upwards.
After an initial free half hour session, lessons and goals can be specifically designed to achieve the aims set by the individual. Lessons can be as few or as frequent as required.
Many styles, methods and techniques can be covered including Pop, Jazz, Latin, Rock, Funk, R&B, Recording, Reading, Rudiments, advanced techniques, Solos, etc...
Andy can teach you as a hobby, just for fun, or to achieve a qualification. I teach to both the Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall Grade Syllabus. Alternatively if you just want to learn to play like your favourite drummer, bring in your CDs and I'll have you playing like your idols in no time!
You can expect well structured lessons adapted to suit you whilst keeping a fun approach at all times. Even if you have never played the drums before you can expect to be playing simple drum patterns by the end of the first lesson. From there, you will be able to develop your skills and hone your own playing style with various options including: stylistic vocabulary, click track playing, rudiments, music theory and reading, technique and posture, timekeeping and soloing. You will always receive good unbiased advice.
Andy aims to make your lesson experience as pleasant and as enjoyable as possible. With this in mind you will be offered free drinks & biscuits. If you arrive early or need to wait for a lift after your lesson you are welcome to make use of our Sun Lounge, complete with comfy sofas, TV, CDs and DVDs. Unfortunately we don't offer terrestrial television.
Andy doesn't just take the student's needs into account. He strives to make the experience pleasant and enjoyable for everybody. With that in mind, any parents wishing to sit in on lessons are welcome to have a seat in the teaching room and be treated to free tea, coffee and biscuits.
Parents arriving early or wishing to escape the noise are also welcome to have a seat in our Sun Lounge, complete with sofas, TV, CDs and DVDs. Unfortunately we don't offer terrestrial television.
It's great to see the very young drummers starting out and almost straight away playing a basic beat and counting time! I have developed ideas that will aid many basic skills needed to play different instruments and in particular the drum kit! These include; Counting, co-ordination (using right and left hands), establishing a practice routine, reading basic notes and rhythms and the ability to focus on a given task.
Lessons can be given for individuals or pairs. Please call me for more details and booking times.
